Every great journey begins with experience, curiosity, and a deep love of travel. Ours has been shaped by decades in the industry, strong client relationships, and a commitment to designing meaningful, immersive travel experiences.
A shared passion, decades in the making
Our story begins with Russell, who started his travel career in 1989. Over the past 37 years, he has held senior leadership and management roles within the Flight Centre Travel Group, including at Mona Vale and Byron Bay Flight Centre. With a lifelong passion for adventure travel, skiing, and active journeys, Russell is highly regarded for his destination expertise and his ability to design experiences that are both exhilarating and seamlessly planned.
Jane began her career in 1994, building extensive experience through agency management roles in Byron Bay and Lismore. Known for her organisation, warmth, and attention to detail, Jane specialises in family & group travel and quality leisure holidays — creating journeys that feel effortless, personal, and thoughtfully curated.
From partnership to purpose
Recognising the strength of our shared values and complementary skill sets, we launched our home-based business with Travel Associates in 2007. This allowed us to work more closely with our clients, forming long-term relationships built on trust, personal service, and genuine care.
As our client community grew, so did our vision. The next natural step was launching our own business with Travel Partners (Flight Centre Travel Group’s independent brand), operating as Pierce Dolahenty Travel Partners.
With strong systems in place, an established base of loyal clients, and decades of experience servicing Byron Bay, Ocean Shores, and the broader Northern Rivers — alongside a growing Australia-wide client base — we were well positioned, even when the industry faced its greatest challenge
A defining moment: COVID and clarity
The COVID-19 pandemic reshaped global travel in unprecedented ways. Throughout this period, our focus remained clear: to advocate for our clients, stay ahead of rapidly changing airline and border policies, and provide calm, informed guidance during uncertainty.
It was also a time of reflection. We revisited what we truly love about travel, the style of journeys we are most passionate about curating, and the qualities travellers would need from their travel advisor in a post-COVID world.
From this clarity, Immersive Journeys was born.
Independence, with strength behind us
In 2024, Travel Partners rebranded to Envoyage, bringing expanded global partnerships, enhanced technology, and deeper relationships with airlines and premium travel suppliers. In 2025, we fully stepped into the Immersive Journeys brand, becoming Independent Members of Envoyage.
This evolution gave us the best of both worlds:
the support, systems, and buying power of a globally connected network — paired with the autonomy to operate independently, deepen supplier relationships, and design journeys entirely around our clients.
For our clients, this means a more personalised experience with their travel advisor, greater pre- and post-travel support, and access to a wider range of exceptional travel products — allowing each journey to be truly tailored, never templated.
Looking ahead
We don’t believe in growth for growth’s sake. Our focus is on longevity, sustainability, and continuing to deliver exceptional travel experiences.
Looking ahead, we’ll be welcoming an additional experienced advisor who aligns with our values, and will be integrating some exciting new customer-focused technology. This will further enrich the travel experience, offering clients an even more connected, supported journey — from planning right through to each day on the road.
We are excited for what the next decade will bring as we continue curating immersive journeys for travellers across Byron Bay, Ocean Shores, the Northern Rivers, and beyond.
